Oceanic Renewal - Overnight Gel Mask

Onsen’s Oceanic Renewal Overnight Gel Sleep Mask is one of the top products I’ve found on Amazon this year! This mask hydrates my dry, 45 year old skin so well, it’s still plump when I wake up; something many products promise with different results. This mask is walking the walk for sure. 🌟

Onsen is a J-Beauty line of products. The difference between J- and K-beauty are the kind of ingredients used, and their different philosophies. K-Beauty brands are always trying new skincare trends, use strong actives in their products, are constantly introducing new products while discontinuing others, and believe in lengthy 12 step regimens, all of which are to guide you on your journey to glass skin.

J-beauty uses primarily natural ingredients, such as green tea, minerals such as tourmaline and calcium, plant extracts and some of the lighter actives, ie hyaluronic acid, ceramides and peptides. J-beauty is founded more on the idea of all-over wellness, and lifestyle with no 12 step skin regimes.

I’d never tried a J-beauty overnight mask, in fact, I’ve not tried many JB products at all, whereas with K-beauty, I’ve tried so many brands and products. I was excited to try another J-beauty product, and an overnight mask (my favorites) at that!

The container is sleek, and it comes beautifully boxed, with a low-key luxe vibe. I did my regimen before putting on the mask, as it seals the ingredients of your serums, essences , moisturizers etc which is how it protects the skin barrier.

It’s a fairly generous jar of product, and comes with a small applicator spatula. The gel mask went on smoothly, with a lovely cooling effect. The gel is rather thick, so there’s no need to use a plethora of product. There is a hint of a scent that smells natural and inoffensive. The mask dries down a little tacky, but not for long. I have very light, sensitive skin (7 out of 10 on sensitivity scale) and I’m 45, with some small wrinkles and dry patches.

When I rinsed off the mask in the morning, I was shocked to see that my skin still looked a bit plump, and was still completely hydrated! Even when I’ve used overnight moisturizers from high-end brands, I’ve often woken up with dry skin. Not with this mask! My skin was glowing, with a much more fresh look, and i felt like I’d been to a spa. I was quite meticulous with makeup that morning, using very little, because of how my skin was glowing. Absolutely amazing.

I’ve now been using this in at night and on most mornings, as there hasn’t been any visible peeling. It makes for a wonderful canvas for (minimal) makeup application.

This gel mask is a bargain at $29.99, and I absolutely recommend it!

I prefer Adian brands but snagged this because while Onsen is not an Asian brand, they do have pretty good products!

This mask works nicely. It does state it's for overnight but due to the tackiness of it; I apply and let it sit for a few hours before rinsing right before bed.

Mine came in the correct honey color the images show. It did have a bit of a smell but I expected that given the ingredients. Overall I'd say it works decently from the few times I've used it.

This mask is SO good. It’s lightweight, smells clean (no fake fragrances!), and feels like putting a cool cloud on your face. I put it on before bed and woke up looking way more glowy and firm than I should after staying up scrolling all night. It absorbs quickly, feels cooling on the skin, and provides excellent overnight hydration without heaviness. After several uses, I noticed improvements in firmness, brightness, and overall skin texture. The calming ingredients helped reduce redness, and the clean formula is great for sensitive skin. A very effective, gentle overnight treatment.

The Onsen Oceanic Renewal Overnight Gel Sleep Mask feels luxurious and refreshing the moment it’s applied. The gel texture absorbs quickly without leaving any sticky residue, and my skin feels smooth and hydrated by morning. I like that it includes ingredients such as Vitamin C, collagen, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, manuka honey, and turmeric, which all work together to boost radiance and softness. It has a light, clean scent that fades quickly, making it pleasant to use before bed. My skin looks plumper and more even-toned after a few uses, especially around areas that tend to get dry. The jar feels sturdy, and a little goes a long way, so it should last a while. Onsen created a gentle yet effective sleep mask that delivers hydration and brightness while you rest.

I leave it on overnight and it definitely leaves my skin feeling smooth and glowy. The mask is a yellowish color and at first look a bit strange. There are no strong or strange odors. At first application I felt a bit of tingling on my face. I'm not sure if it's the product or if my face was just a bit dry and cracked, but the tingling went away after the first 30 minutes.

It dries on well and doesn't feel sticky after drying. I left it on overnight just fine and there was nothing on my pillows. The product feels really well made, especially the jar and scoop that it comes with. Feels like a higher end product. No issues removing it either. My face feels great after a couple weeks of usage. It's quite pricey so I'm not sure if it's a great value for money. However, all the ingredients are high quality ingredients so you do get what you pay for. Overall, works well and feels great.

This is a great gel mask to be applied at night and by morning, it is fully absorbed. A little goes a long way. It should last awhile. I am very impressed ith the ingredients. They are top notch. I have not experienced any negative effects. I am pleased with the results especially since I have very sensitive skin.The gel is lightweight and feels goodon my skin. There are no negatives.

As a longtime fan of Japanese skincare, I had high hopes for this product, but it ended up just... fine.

I have sensitive skin and a habit of cross-checking product descriptions, packaging claims, and ingredient lists before committing because I've been burned, literally, before.

Unfortunately, this one didn’t pass the alignment test. The box references “activating the mask’s enzymes,” yet there are no enzymes like papain, bromelain, or protease listed, “white pagoda” refers to Sophora Japonica, which contains antioxidants, not exfoliating enzymes.

The listing also emphasizes “stem cells”, which is a big part of why I ordered this, but there’s nothing in the ingredient list resembling stem cell derivatives. Not pleased about that.

Even the honey claim is vague, it’s standard honey (Mel), not manuka which would be listed as “Mel (Manuka Honey)” or “Leptospermum Scoparium Mel”.

Since the brand is based in LA and manufactured in the U.S., these inconsistencies aren’t due to translation errors.

I patch tested and found the formula tacky, poorly absorbed, and mildly irritating, enough to rinse off.

With no standout actives or advanced delivery systems (like exosomes), the pricing feels high for me.

It sounds like a premium overnight treatment, but seems to me like a decent hydrating mask.

The jar is visually unique, but I’d prefer an airless pump for hygiene and freshness.

Ultimately, this didn’t work for me.

I'm pretty impressed with this. I've had the chance to try skincare items that retail for much more than this, but I think this performs better than those. This goes on not too thick or sticky, it has a pleasant creamy texture. After wearing this overnight, in the morning my skin seems more clear and refreshed. I like that this uses a lot of natural ingredients that I know are great for your body and skin, versus just a bunch of complicated chemical names I don't understand. It came in a nice box and its in a weighty, elegant glass container. I think this is the experience of a luxe product for a reasonable price.

This has been nice to try because it contains some new ingredients I have not come across before in skincare. This overnight gel mask can be worn and washed off after 20 or so minutes. Or you can leave overnight, which is my preference.

The jar is an interesting design and contains a brown yellow gel, which must come from the turmeric on the product. It also contains different types of seaweed and moss stem cells along with a host of other interesting well known ingredients.

It doesn't have much of a fragrance and absorbs and goes on smoothly. It feels cooling to the touch and does help my skin look brighter the next day when I wash it all off.

I like the Japanese tilt this has with certain ingredients that come from there. It is an exotic skincare product I have enjoyed using. My skin feels hydrated and no irritation at all from using it.
